4.This presentation was geared toward middle and high school teachers. The presenter, Drew Schrader, discussed three reading comprehension strategies that could easily be paired with Web 2.0 tools to promote student engagement in the classroom. Think Alouds, Annotated Text, and Mind Mapping were the three reading strategies in which he paired with the following web tools: Screentoaster, Diigo, and Prezi. Each of the web tools was discussed thoroughly with examples of how to use each one.
5.I will definitely be learning more about how to use Diigo in the future. It is a great tool to highlight text and use sticky notes to attract student attention.
6.It has been such an amazing experience learning how to use the web to enhance student achievement. These three tools are not as practical for lower elementary, however, each can be adapted to use in my classroom.
7. I will be using Diigo in my next Science unit on weather. Highlighting vocabulary terms and using sticky notes to direct attention to key pictures will be beneficial to my students. This web tool could also be helpful in reveiwing test taking strategies.

4. Angela Maiers posed a few amazing questions about technology in our schools. Is technology integration enough? What causes students to engage in learning beyond the bells and whistles? Is passion driven learning even practical in a time of high standards and pressure? She didn't leave the viewer with the answers, but the right questions to be asking ourselves as teachers. She also challenged us to help her with the mission of providing our students with the opportunity to not just use technology in the classroom, but for the teachers to assist students in using technology to share their voices with the world. In a time of "teaching for the test", teachers quickly lose sight of our students' true talents. Angela gives a beautiful example of how to foster the love of learning in our students.
5. I am curious to know the logistics behind her reasoning. How exactly does she implement this kind of learning into the everyday with the pressure of teaching the standards according to the district/state pacing chart.
6. It reminded me of the reason I became a teacher in the first place. It also made me think twice about my own young children and their interests.
7. I have a student in my class who needs some inspiration and this seems to be right up her alley. She would benefit so much from doing some self engaged projects! I would also love to collaborate with the kindergarten teacher in my school and discuss some of the interests of the upcoming first graders. I feel that could beneficial to their future learning experience. We also do daily journals. I can allow for personal, free entries and go from there with each student.

4. Alex Ambrose had a lengthy presentation on how the basics of education are beginning to change because of new technologies. He posed the question: "How are we best using tools to meet students needs?" He then proceeded to use Google as a means to do just this. Through the use of googlio one can create his/her own website to access all Google tools. It is like creating a portfolio for individuals to collect, publish, and reflect and share digitally with others.
5.I would like to see how I could use this practically in lower grades.
6. I loved how he compared the traditional Bloom's Taxonomy (revised 2001) to the Bloom's Digital Taxonomy (2006).
7. I feel like I could use this as a collaborative tool with other teachers of my students (special education and enrichment teachers). It could also be a great connection tool for teachers and parents.

6. I realized the importance of creating a website and how easy it can be to set up and maintain.
7. I will most likely create my own website. My plan will be to include weekly news, homework, pictures, updates, and any schoolwide activities.

4. This was an excellent presentation on how to access a Google account and some of its important innerworkings. Kern Kelley showed step by step how to set up a Gmail account, and an iGoogle page. He discussed Google Gears, Google Reader, blogger.com, Picasso Web Albums, and Google Sites. He showed us how to put each of these gadets onto the iGoogle page. Kern also showed how to collaborate through Google Docs. It was an amazing presentation and I have already created an iGoogle page and opened a Gmail account.
5. What new features does Google have since this 2008 conference?
6. This is a great tool for teacher collaboration in terms of creating assessments and student portfolios!
7. I work collaboratively with another first grade teacher, so being able to create a document in Google Docs and then have my partner add to/change the document without using my computer is great. I can also access some of the important teaching journals and get the latest information from them from Google Reader. Creating a teacher webpage would be so easy using Google Sites. I hope to create my own website in the near future.
